Thank you for looking at my web page! Click the red letters on this page to find links & more information!
I have an approach to working with people that is based on both my personal values, life experiences, and training. My desire is to create trusting conversational environments where people can connect & authentically deal with the issues of their heart.
The direction I provide is based on helping people become fully alive and relationally connected. My skills are driven by multidisciplinary graduate training in biblical theology, clinical social work, and counseling research. My professional history includes a number of ministry roles, as well as clinical professions since 1997. I am fascinated by the distinct and ever changing cultures surrounding these fields. I am also passionate about learning and teaching new ways to come along side people who seek our care.
Witnessing the attack on the World Trade Center and serving people in the days following September 11, 2001 greatly influenced my views on the role and opportunities for church leaders, mental health professionals, and everyday people to work together. My relationship with God motivates a "real world" compassion for people. Toward this vision, In 2011 my wife and I founded City Praxis, Inc. I am happy to teach classes (currently at Case Western Reserve University), workshops, and inservice presentations on trauma, loss, and grief.
I am excited to get to know you. Please review these web pages and contact me to learn more about my services or schedule an appointment!
Warmly,
Ryan
My Personal Beliefs and Heroes
My approach is consistent with the beliefs & values of the Westminster Catechism & 2nd London Baptist Confession. The more current authors to whom I own a debt of gratitude include Tim Keller, Dr. Larry Crabb, Dr. Eric Johnson, Dr. Phil Monroe, & Dr. Robert C. Roberts. I also have a high regard for the efforts represented by associations such as NACSW, CCEF, & AACC. My friendship and pastors include Dr. Mike Dittman, Ted Boykin, Jonathan Schaeffer, Dave Epstein, Rick Duncan, & Dave Crompton.
